What Do The Seven Pins Mean In Voodoo Symbology

| Sunday, September 5, 2010 | |
What Do The Seven Pins Mean In Voodoo Symbology Cover Symbolism is an inherent characteristic of all magickal systems, mystical practices, and religions. As such, knowledge is power. In addition, there is positive and negative in all magickal systems - good and evil, black and white, light and dark, love and revenge, right and left. While Hollywood and the mass media have inaccurately amplified the negative aspects of Hoodoo and Voodoo and thus perpetuating its traumatic origins in this country, Voodoo priests and priestesses work primarily with the right hand (for good). Hoodoo root doctors, as they are called, will often work with both hands. However, all healers must have an intimate knowledge of both sides of the coin for without this knowledge, it would be impossible to define the light.

Numbers and colors are at the core of Hoodoo and Voodoo symbology. It is hard to definitively say where the importance of the number seven came from. The number seven is integral to many Native American belief systems, representing the seven sacred directions, and it is commonly known that much of Hoodoo and Voodoo came from the indigenous knowledge of the healing plants and herbs in ritual and healing practices. In addition, it is believed that the availability of the Jewish menorah candle holders were widely available and purchased by practitioners and ultimately the use of seven candles, seven colors, and the number seven in general were incorporated into the practice.

If you research the topic at all, you will find discrepencies into the meanings of the seven colors. I am offering one interpretation of the meanings of the seven colored pins found in new Orleans Voodoo. Note that this interpretation is based on right hand Voodoo practice.

Symbolism of the 7 pin colors:

yellow - success
white - positive
red - power
purple - spirituality
green - money
blue - love
black - repelling negative energy

Voodoo Magic Spells

| Wednesday, September 1, 2010 | |
Voodoo Magic Spells Cover The word Voodoo, which has many different names and spellings (like Vodun, Vodou, Voudou, Vudu, Vodoun) is the name of a West African religion. Voodoo is animist and spiritist, and a lot of Voodoo beliefs have to do with ancestor spirits. Some of it is based on Catholic beliefs, but most of Voodoo is from the Fon, Ewe, and Yoruba peoples. The word vodun is the Fon-Ewe word for spirit.

In Voodoo many gods and spirits are prayed to or called on. Both spirits of nature and of dead people are important. The spirits of family member who have died are especially important. Voodoo often has rituals with music and dancing. Drums are used to make most of this music. In Voodoo people often believe that a spirit is in their body and controlling the body. Having a spirit come into is wanted, and important. This spirit can speak for the gods or dead people you love, and can also help to heal or do magic.

Voodoo History Ii

Voodoo History Ii Cover The Jamaican form of voodoo's ritual arcane power seeped out and partially migrated slowly from Jamaica to be transformed in Haiti to a power centered in hurt, not that the Hatian sorcerers are evil but they practice a form of arcane voodoo that is centered in pain which they needed to break the grip of a powerful evil spirit in which the colonialist were infected with, that tradition migrated to New Orleans were I currently live(when you attain the level of magus voodoo practioner you can draw power from bastions of mystical energy and therefore can create more powerful and complex spells) ,were it was molded into a more subtle magical force but still just as vicous to fight evil spirits, the reason for the subtleness has its roots in the high priestess's that practiced and still pactice it to this day,few men were alowed to invoke obeah magic in New Orleans because of the tradition of slavery that evolved ,the Europeans in America learned of the power from their more civilized cousins in Jamaica who had already dealt with the black art in the West Indies and knew its power ,so any known male practitioners in New Orleans were dealt with not by prison like in Jamaica but with death,in fact even women were not allowed to practice obeah magic, only a select few of shall I say priveleged mulattos and quatroons, they were aware of the voodoo spells through family ties and were passed on bits and pieces of the dark magic and because of their great beauty in the eyes of the ruling class were allowed to dally and practice the powerful vooddoo magic mostly unscathed, but even they had to practice their art in secrecy not wanting to risk being punished by their masters. This is partially the reason why New Orleans Voodoo is not as refined and lacks the depth of knowledge of Obeah magic practiced in the West Indies,Obeah is more a kin to Ayur-Veda ,the ancient East Indian tradition of healing .

Voodoo Beliefs And Practices

| Monday, August 30, 2010 | |
Voodoo Beliefs And Practices Cover Louisiana Voodoo is a conglomeration of beliefs that has evolved over time and continues to adapt to its surroundings. As it has been a religion conserved by oral tradition, has no sacred book or canon and is followed by many, the beliefs of Louisiana Voodoo vary somewhat from person to person. Louisiana Voodoo combines elements of African and European beliefs - the latter of which primarily involves Roman Catholicism. It is a dynamic religion that has both adapted to and shaped New Orleans culture.

The word voodoo comes from the word vudu, the Dahomean “spirit”, an invisible mysterious force that can intervene in human affairs.” The worship of spirits remains a vital part of the practices of voodoo in Louisiana. Followers of Louisiana voodoo believe in one God and multiple lesser but powerful spirits which preside over daily matters of life, such as the family, the sky, and judgment.

The core beliefs of Louisiana Voodoo include the recognition of one God who does not interfere in people's daily lives and spirits that preside over daily life. Spiritual forces, which can be kind or mischievous, shape daily life through and intercede in the lives of their followers. Connection with these spirits can be achieved through dance, music, singing, and the use of snakes, which represent Legba, Voodoo's "main spirit conduit to all others." Unlike the Judeo-Christian image, the Voodoo serpent represents "healing knowledge and the connection between Heaven and Earth." Deceased ancestors can also intercede in the lives of Voodoo followers.

The main focus of Louisiana Voodoo today is to serve others and influence the outcome of life events through the connection with nature, spirits, and ancestors. True rituals are held "behind closed doors" as a showy ritual would be considered disrespectful to the spirits. Voodoo methods include readings, spiritual baths, specially devised diets, prayer, and personal ceremony. Voodoo is often used to cure anxiety, addictions, depression, loneliness, and other ailments. It seeks to help the hungry, the poor, and the sick as Marie Laveau once did.

Use Your Pins With Your Voodoo Doll

| Sunday, August 29, 2010 | |
Use Your Pins With Your Voodoo Doll Cover There are countless ways to use your pins with your Voodoo doll. The simplest way is to take each pin and concentrate on the color symbolism. Meditate upon how you want these things to manifest in your life. For example, with your yellow pin, focus on what success you desire. After you are very clear about this, stick the pin into your doll in the heart or stomach region. This area will support your heart's desire and your gut feelings or intuition. You can also stick your pins into the head for knowledge. Repeat this process for each pin. I recommend burning a candle during this process to strengthen your work. Choose a candle color to match your deepest need. The candle colors are the same as the pin colors in this case.

All that is left to do is to wait and trust in your personal power that the Universe will help you make your intentions manifest. Patience is your best attribute now.

The Voodoo Doll Spellbook

| Saturday, August 28, 2010 | |
The Voodoo Doll Spellbook Cover How would you like to open Marie Laveau's trick bag of Voodoo Doll spells? The Great and Powerful Voodoo Queen of New Orleans, Marie Laveau, was known to create little dolls and place them on the doorsteps of enemies, or use them to win court cases, or to unite lovers. She had a veritable trick bag of brilliant methods for gaining the knowledge he needed for her spells to be effective. One ploy was to surreptitiously place a Voodoo doll near the front door of her victims, more often than not the house-servants of well-known New Orleans families. When the Voodoo doll was discovered, the victim was convinced they had been hexed by someone other than Marie, and would run to the Bosswoman (as Marie was known by the locals) for help. Marie would agree to render the doll harmless if the victim agreed to act as her spy and provide her with information about the affairs of the prominent family where the victim worked. Now that is one hell of a magickal manipulation!
In the past in Old New Orleans, Voodoo dolls were referred to as fetiches by outsiders because they roughly resembled the magickal fetiches brought from Africa by African slaves. Since Voodoo dolls are traditionally constructed from objects belonging to the natural world, such as sticks, moss, herbs, roots, and stones, it makes sense to believe that the doll itself has Spirit, that it is part of the One Creator, just as people are. Even throughout European history, philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle contemplated the possibility that souls exist in animals, plants, and people.

This book reveals over 100 pages of powerful spells based on authentic New Orleans Voodoo hoodoo tradition. You will find spells from a variety of cultures who employed the use of doll magick in their traditions. Love and romance, wealth and prosperity, power and domination, fast luck spells, uncrossing, banishment, binding, stopping gossip, finding a lost pet, bend over spells, break up spells, court case spells, spells to destroy all problems... Learn little known formulas for New Orleans Gris Gris dolls such as Gambler's Luck Gris Gris Doll, Good Luck Gris Gris Doll, Crossing Doll, Bad Luck Mummy Doll and many many more.

Indeed, this book shows just how much mightier the pin is than the sword...I promise you there are Voodoo doll rituals you have never heard of before in this book that are guaranteed to leave you spellbound! These are all ancient, hardcore New Orleans voodoo, hoodoo, witchcraft, Greek, and Egyptian Voodoo doll spells by today's foremost authority on Voodoo doll magick!

Karmically Incorrect Use Of The Seven Pins In Voodoo

| Tuesday, August 24, 2010 | |
Karmically Incorrect Use Of The Seven Pins In Voodoo Cover If You Believe you are Above Karmic Law, Knock Yourself Out.

If you are arrogant enough to believe you are above the law of karma, then feel free to use your pins in the following way. Just remember that the law of three and the Law of Attraction in magick states that you reap what you sow three-fold, so don't say I didn't warn you.

To make your Voodoo doll represent a person, place some of that person's hair or a personal item inside the cloth of the doll to capture part of their soul. Use your black pin into the part of the body that you want the person to experience negativity. For example, a pin in the heart can cause heartbreak or heart problems, the stomach a stomach ache, the back a back ache or relationship problems, etc. With each stick you must focus your intention with the utmost clarity. Then place the doll on the person's doorstep or in their mailbox and watch them totally freak out. Or bury it, but you are really asking for trouble here...

Then back up and watch all hell break loose (in YOUR life, that is)!

Please note that I do not advise using your doll in this way. Voodoo is a powerful magickal system and the law of karma will not make an exception for you. Use of your Voodoo doll in any fashion other than with the right hand as I have recommended may result in severe negative consequences that I will take no responsibility for. So don't come bitching and moaning to me about it after the fact, unless you want to make things right, then I might be of assistance, if your desire to do so is due to Right Intention.

How To Learn Voodoo Magic

| Wednesday, August 18, 2010 | |
How To Learn Voodoo Magic Cover Voodoo is a faith that is a combination of Roman Catholicism and the tribal spiritualism of West Africa. When the slaves (primarily in Haiti) were taught Christianity, it blended with their own spiritualism and became what's known as voodoo. While a complicated faith to an outsider, voodoo can be learned and understood. Additionally, the inherent magic of voodoo can also be performed if a person learns it.

How to Learn Voodoo Magic Instructions

Step 1. Learn about voodoo as a religion and faith. Voodoo is a religion first and a form of magic second. One cannot practice the magic until they learn about the spirits, called the Loa, who grant this power and aid.

Step 2. Find an experienced teacher, if possible. Voodoo is like any other faith; you can read all the books that you want, but in the end you should speak with other practitioners about it to learn from their experience.

Step 3. Design a ritual. Voodoo, like any other faith, is symbolic. However, that doesn't mean that voodoo spells are created like a recipe. There isn't a "speak these words, perform this action" sort of formula to voodoo magic. Rituals represent a spell, and they should be unique to each person. For instance, a love spell could call out to a certain Loa for help, and while you speak a poem that you wrote yourself, you could light red candles to represent love and power. You could also keep a photograph of the person you love on the altar as you ask for the Loa's help. Each "spell" should be unique, and crafted to the needs of the caster and the unique situation they need help in.

Tips And Warnings

* Be realistic in your expectations. Voodoo won't be a quick fix to your problems if you aren't willing to solve them from a spiritual and a reality-based perspective.
* Avoid internet sites or mass media books that claim they can teach "voodoo spells" that will make you rich, powerful and attractive. At best these spells are fluff, and at worst they could make you seem like an unbeliever, ruining your chances of getting actual help.

How To Dispose Of A Cursed Voodoo Doll

| | |
How To Dispose Of A Cursed Voodoo Doll Cover So you think you have a Voodoo doll that has been cursed, or you feel it is haunted and is bringing you bad luck? What do you do with it? Well, there are a couple of options and lucky for you that I am sharing it here!

If you really feel that you have somehow acquired a negative Voodoo doll, the best thing to do is to put it in a white cloth and shake a whole lot of sea salt on it. Sea salt is routinely used as a purifier in magick. Then, take it to a river or stream or somewhere deep in the woods with an offering of fruit and some coins. Ask the spirits of the water or the trees to take the negative energy and transform it through the power of the earth. Leave the area without looking back and when you arrive home light a 7-day protection candle and take a bath with cleansing herbs, including sea salt. Basil and juniper are two good options for this type of cleansing spiritual bath.

Another option is to wait until a Saturday to get rid of it. Put the doll in a clean, white cloth and dig a hole in the ground somewhere far away from your home. Place the doll in the hole and burn it. When it has reduced to ashes, sprinkle some Holy Water on it and cover the hole over with dirt. The earth will transform that negative energy very quickly and turn it into positive energy and blessings. When you return home afterward, bathe very well, adding some Holy Water to your bath.

Don't know where to get Holy Water? I'll tell you an old Indian secret. Take a glass of ordinary water and place it in the east window of your home. In the morning as the sun shines on the water, it will be transformed into Holy Water.

A Pagan Witches Touchstone Witchcraft And Witch Hunts In South Africa Cover

Book: A Pagan Witches Touchstone Witchcraft And Witch Hunts In South Africa by Damon Leff

A Pagan Witches Touchstone is an important publication for a number of reasons. Certainly one of the most important is that for the first time, self-defining Pagan Witches bring into open debate their own perspectives and experiences that result from the negative consequences brought about by the dominant construction of the ‘witch’ as a practitioner of evil. These constructions mostly emerge in African religious traditions wherein witchcraft is understood as an explanatory cause behind personal and community misfortune, illness, and untimely death; and within many Christian traditions that have historically associated the practice of magic, occult traditions, and alternative conceptions of the divine, with a form of diabolic heresy. In this worldview, a person who engages in some, or all, of these practices, can be labeled 'a witch.'

The authors of TouchStone raise these issues in an undoubtedly subjective and impassioned fashion. As Pagan Witches they, and others in their community, have been negatively stereotyped and are also subject to the criminalization of their beliefs and practices under any form of witchcraft legislation. They are vehemently committed to participating in dialogue and finding a role in attempts to seek a solution to the injustices incurred through witchcraft accusations and violence.

Marie Laveau

| Tuesday, January 12, 2010 | |
Marie Laveau Cover When you hear the word Voodoo, what comes to mind first? For many people they say the name Marie Laveau. She is referred to as the Queen of Voodoo. She was born in 1783, to Marguerite Darcantel, a slave from Haiti and Mistress of a wealthy plantation owner, a Frenchman, Charles Laveau. She bore her father’s name and was a free woman of color. She was raised within the strict guidelines of the Catholic Church. A devout Catholic, she went to mass everyday of her life.

She was a dark skinned woman with long black hair that she Frequently wore in a single braid making her look much like an Indian or a Gypsy, probably adding to her mystique. In 1819, she married Jacques Paris, a native of Santo Domingo. He died a short time later and she was to be referred to as the “Widow Paris”. She later became mistress to Christophe Glapion with whom she had numerous children. Some accounts speak of her having as many as 15 children, it is believed however that she actually only had three daughters, one of which was also named Marie.

Marie Laveau was a hairdresser who, in 1826 became intrigued with the first New Orleans Voodoo Queen, Sanite DeDe. She began to study herbs and the secrets of the Voodoo religion. In spite of her attraction to Voodoo, she never abandoned her Catholic roots. She saw similarities between the two, particularly, between the Voodoo Loas and the Saints. Both demi-gods under one Supreme Being, each having a specific purpose. She incorporated the use of candles and Holy Water in Voodoo rituals. It was because of this “blending” of Religions that the White Creole Catholics began to find Voodoo a bit more palatable. Actually, the church was conned into believing that the Voodouns had converted to Catholicism! By the 1830’s, Marie Laveau was the Queen of Voodoo and Voodoo once again was practiced inside the city limits.

Marie Laveau went on to become one of the city’s great humanitarians. She worked beside Pere Antoine caring for the sick during the yellow fever epidemics. She ministered to prisoners on death row. She helped anyone who needed her regardless of race or ability to pay. In spite of continual acts of kindness, Marie Laveau was feared among the populace. Countless tales are told of Marie manipulating and intmidating the public. She retired as Queen in 1875. Although throughout her reign she was feared by many a New Orleanian, when she died at the age of 98 in 1881, many people believed she was a saint. She is buried in St. Louis Cemetery # 1. Thousands of visitors flock to her grave site each year to make a wish or give thanks for wishes granted. Offerings of food, money, cigarettes or anything else that someone might deem of value can be found place at the foot of the grave. Many stories have arisen of Paranormal expeeriences at the site. Beverly Taylor of the Amatur Spectral Society of Lousisan heard a voice at the tomb speak to her as she photograph the tomb. She later submitted her photograph showing an entity in front of the tomb.

The Spiritual Guide The Rich Treasure Of Internal Peace Cover

Book: The Spiritual Guide The Rich Treasure Of Internal Peace by Michael De Molinos

This document is a transcription of an English Translation of The Spiritual Guide by Miguel de Molinos The English translation was published in London, in 1688, and is a translation of an Italian edition published in Venice, in 1685. The English translation has the author as “Dr. Michael de Molinos”. The transcription was performed in November and December of 1997, from a microfilmed copy of the 1688 English translation.

The Book that is here presented ye, is a Translation from the Italian Copy, Printed at Venice in 1685. The first Man that got it, with difficulty, out of the Authour’s hands, and then had it Printed at Rome in 1675, with all the solemnity of approbations, was Fryer John of St. Mary, who styles himself Provincial; and he speaks very fine things of it, and he had so heartily read it over, that the impression which it made in his Mind, gave him the exact cue and knack of that sort of Language which the Author uses, when he throws himself headlong into darkness and obscurity: And when this Man had recommended the Book to the sincere Reader, after his way; the next that appears to give a Grace to it, is no less a Man, than the Most Illustrious and most Reverend Lord, the Archbishop of Rhegium, who tells us how many great Offices in the Church he had pass’d through; he says in his Approbation of the Book, that ‘tis a hard matter to make a judgement of it, without some experience of the things contained in it: And that how high soever the secret of it be above all humane Discourse, yet they are not only not contrary to the right dictates of Reason, but altogether conformable to it: Which is as fitting a Preface to some things in the Book, as any man in the World could have made with the Study of Seven Years: First, to say that these sovereign Secrets, which the Book treats of, are above all human Discourse; and then in the very next words, to say they are conformable altogether to the dictates of Reason: as if the dictates of Reason and human Discourse had entered into a Combination never to come to a right Understanding of one another.

He that would be further satisfied of the fitness of this Archbishop’s Character to the Book, will be gratified, by reading patiently some things of the Nineteenth and Twentieth Chapters of the Third Book: But ‘tis enough, that this great Man speaks well of his Countryman Molinos’s Doctrine, that ‘tis according to the judgment of the holy Fathers, and the usual way of Mystical Divines, he says again, that the Author of this Book, does not speak his own Capricios, but follows the footsteps of the Ancients, and builds upon their Principles, and spiritual Foundations, that he reduces ‘em to a right and clear Method, bringing forth (says he) out of his Treasures, things new and old; And for the Stile of the Book, he allows it to be clear, easie, plain, and full in such crabbed hard and lofty Subject; adding withal, that the Man doth not decline Proofs of Scripture, Doctrines of the Fathers, Decrees of Councils, nor the
Principles of Morality, and therefore he judges it to be a useful Piece, and very worth to be Printed: and what can be said more to set any Book off. Next to the Archbishop’s Approbation, in comes that of Fryer Francis-Mary, Minister
General of the whole Franciscan Order, given from his Convent of Ara Coeli, who speaks mighty kindly and favourably of the Book, & recommends it to the Press.

Evil curses, generational curses, charms, vexes, hexes, spells, jinxes, psychic powers, that have been put upon this person or their family line going back as far as ten generations break these Satanic Rituals and curses, break their hold. Break it's power over them. I command you by the authority of Jesus Christ spirit of voodoo to loose this person listening to this Father God DETACH and LOOSE this person from the spirit of voodoo in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Amen

Book: Magic Voodoo Spells by Douglas Hensley

From what I have learned about Spirituality and magic there is one thing to keep in mind, whatever you cast out WILL return to you in some way. Beware, if you are casting spells from this book make sure you are well trained and do not use hexes or curses ever. They are there if you need them but I feel that if you choose a protection or prosperity spell over a curse you will be all the wiser.....Beware, these are real if you do them right, you are responsible for what you cast.

John Dee Actions With Spirits 22 December To 23 May 1583 Thesis Cover

Book: John Dee Actions With Spirits 22 December To 23 May 1583 Thesis by Christopher Lionel Whitby

This thesis presents an investigation of the nature of earliest extant records of the supposes communication with angels and spirits of John Dee (1527-1608) with the assistance of his two mediums or 'scryers', Barnabas Saul and Edward Kelly. The form chosen is a transcription of the records in Dee's hand contained in Sloane MS 3188, Together With an introduction and commentary to the text, witch has been transcibed only once before, by Elias Ashmole in 1672.

In the Introduction the physical state of the manuscript is described and hypothesis advanced as to how it arrived in the Sloane collection. Biographical details of Dee and his scryers are provided and a further chapter presents some background to Renaissance occult philosophy and practice of scrying. Arguments that the manuscript represents a conscious fraud or a cryptographical exercise are examined and disproved and the magical system and instruments evolved during the Communications or 'Actions' are described.

The thesis contains approximately 95000 words, excluding the transcription of Sloane MS 3188.
